Microsoft Inc. (NASDAQ: MSFT) is planning to buy Discord Inc for $10 billion. Discord has discussed its acquisition with many competent purchasers including Microsoft, but the deal has not been confirmed. One of the sources disclosed that Discord is intending to go public first and then go on sale.

Discord which is a platform on which users coordinate group activities such as games, discussions, and even virtual parties is priced at roughly $7 billion as of last December. Discord has more than 100 million enthusiastic customers and has been expanding its interaction tools to transform it into a “place to discuss” rather than simply a gamer-oriented conversation platform.

Microsoft has been planning since last year to gain access to a large number of audiences as it has earlier planned to buy TikTok and has also discussed the acquisition of Pinterest. The Xbox business of Microsoft has also been growing the suite of payment incentives it offers as part of its Game Pass offering.

Furthermore, MSFT has recently bought ZeniMax Media Inc. and the latest talks of buying Discord have signaled the fact that the firm is planning to invest more in its video-game division. Informants also disclosed that Discord has been in talks with Amazon and Epic Games for its acquisition.
