Rakuten, a Japanese e-commerce giant, has launched Rakuten NFT, a new NFT marketplace and sales platform. The platform will offer NFTs in fields such as sports and entertainment, such as music and anime. For a long time, Rakuten has been active with cryptocurrencies and blockchain. In 2019, the company introduced Rakuten Wallet, a cryptocurrency exchange that provides spot trading services for a range of cryptocurrencies.

Non-fungible tokens are a special sort of digital token that blockchain technology has enabled. They feature unique identities that differentiate them from other tokens, and their possession can be tracked from minting to present owner with absolute certainty. NFTs are a wonderful approach to describing digital objects because of their unique features.

Furthermore, a couple of drops have already been released by Rakuten NFT. This includes an NFT based on the Kurogane Hiroshi G1 Gekitoshi manga and an NFT with materials from the Ultraman anime. Rakuten has also disclosed several NFT drops planned for the future, including partnerships with TV Asahi Corporation, Daiki Sound Co, Art Powers Japan Association, and others.

In addition to this, Rakuten intends to launch an official NFT collection in collaboration with the J. League which is Japan’s top professional football league. Rakuten stated that with Rakuten NFT, it will continue to bring innovative and engaging entertainment experiences to the greatest possible range of users, delivering greater levels of ease and enjoyment. Rakuten NFT will only offer official NFT releases from intellectual property holders when it first launches. Peer-to-peer capability in the marketplace will not be available until 2023 or later.
