Westlake Corporation (NYSE: WLK) revealed that Westlake Epoxy’s Pernis, Netherland’s site has earned International Sustainability & Carbon Plus (ISCC+) certification. The site earned mass balance certification for its tracking and management of sustainable materials in the production of epoxy products.

ISCC+ is a global, practical, and transparent approach for certifying bio-based, bio-circular, and circular raw materials at every stage of the supply chain. The ISCC+ accreditation honors Westlake Epoxy's earlier Hexion BV dedication to environmentally, socially, and economically sustainable production by monitoring its current feedstock mix and substituting renewable resources for fossil products.

In addition, Aromatic monomers for liquid epoxy resins manufactured at the Pernis facility have been approved as bio-based alternatives by mass balance. These include the phenol and acetone used in the production of Bisphenol A (BPA) which is a key component in the production of epoxy resins.

Furthermore, Westlake's continued commitment to functioning in a more ecologically friendly manner is reflected in its recent accreditation. EcoVadis which has earned a reputation as the world's largest and most trusted source of company sustainability evaluations recently awarded Westlake Epoxy's European operations a Platinum grade.
