Denbury Inc. (NYSE: DEN) and a clean fuels innovator, Infinium, have confirmed that they both have started a strategic alliance. The goal of this partnership is to develop projects in Texas that use ultra-low carbon fuels. Denbury's partnership with Infinium is another interesting opportunity for the company to work with a company that shares its vision of developing world-class carbon solutions.
As per the alliance, Denbury will acquire and deliver CO2 to the Infinium facilities as part of the strategic collaboration, which will be located near Denbury's present and emerging CO2 pipeline infrastructure. Denbury expects the pipeline infrastructure needed to deliver CO2 to the Infinium plants to be completed by 2025. The facilities are expected to save 1.5 million tons of CO2 from being discharged into the atmosphere each year.
Furthermore, Infinium electro fuels plants in Brazoria County will use unique Infinium software to transform renewable energy into green hydrogen and integrate it with industrial-sourced carbon dioxide (CO2) to make ultra-low carbon fuels. Infinium fuels are an immediate substitute for conventional jet and diesel fuel that can be used directly in planes, ships, and truck fleets without alterations in the infrastructure or engine design.
Infinium CEO Robert Schuetzle believed the transportation industry is responsible for a large number of global carbon emissions, and Infinium's ultra-low carbon electrofuels solutions are a potent tool in the fight against climate change. Cutting the Gulf Coast's and the world's emissions profile is a huge opportunity and the proper thing to do for the environment and economy, according to Schuetzle.
