Cloudflare, Inc. (NYSE: NET) revealed that it has joined the EU Cloud Code of Conduct (EU Cloud CoC) to assist expand the trusted ecosystem's effect and urge more enterprises to choose GDPR-compliant cloud services. The EU Cloud Code of Conduct helps enterprises source cloud services from GDPR-compliant providers, bringing transparency and trust to the European cloud computing market.
The EU Cloud Code of Conduct was completely approved by the Belgian Data Protection Authority following a positive opinion from the European Data Protection Board and is thus a legally operational Code of Conduct under Article 40 of the EU's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Furthermore, the Code applies to all cloud service levels, and its compliance is monitored by SCOPE Europe, an accredited monitoring organization. By assuaging users' data security fears, Cloudflare's worldwide network and a firm commitment to maintaining the highest data protection standards will accelerate the adoption of cloud services across the region.
Additionally, Cloudflare also reportedly received two additional cloud security certifications from the German Federal Office for Information Security including ISO/IEC 27018:2019. ISO/IEC 27018:2019 is a global ISO privacy certification that establishes safeguards for the handling of personally identifiable information (PII) in public clouds that serve as PII processors. Cloudflare is also ISO/IEC 27701:2019 accredited as a PII Controller and PII Processor, which aligns with numerous data protection requirements such as the GDPR and ISO 27001:2013.
The company has also got C5 certification. C5 is Cloud Computing Compliance Criteria Catalog. The C5 certification is a critical certification of cloud computing security against a set baseline. In May 2022, Cloudflare got a C5 report. These certifications further bolstered its pledge to security and data protection in Europe.
