ISG (NASDAQ: III) Reveals Mainframe-to-Cloud Migration Ready to Unlock Data

Information Services Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: III) released a new research study according to which world’s leading technology research and advisory firm, new progress in tools for transferring legacy applications to the cloud has changed the mainframe market, but few U.S. enterprises have embraced them so far.

Large-scale enterprise transfers have lasted anywhere from 18 months to five years on average. According to ISG, the market has been slower than expected to embrace these automated migration technologies due to the magnitude and complexity of such operations. Adoption has also been hampered by a lack of information and a scarcity of skilled professionals.

Furthermore, the 2022 ISG Provider Lens Mainframes Services and Solutions study for the United States discovers an increasing number of automated technologies that can transform mainframe COBOL applications to cloud-based software in just days, with minimum engineering employees and indefinite scalability in the cloud. Many mainframe IT departments are only now learning about these features.

Additionally, according to the study, when enterprises migrate mainframe applications to the cloud, they want improved access to the data stored in these legacy systems. Companies can use advanced analytics, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data lakes with it. Improved business agility and long-term cost reduction are two other potential benefits.
