Johnson Controls (NYSE: JCI) Become Prominent FT Climate Leader in Europe’s 2022 Climate Leaders List

Johnson Controls International plc (NYSE: JCI) has earned recognition as FT Climate Leader in Europe list for a second straight year. Europe’s 2022 Climate Leaders list acknowledges the efforts of companies across Europe that have demonstrated the highest cut of their emissions intensity between 2015 and 2020, which is measured by greenhouse gas emissions relative to revenue.

Johnson Controls has become one of only 400 companies chosen from more than 4,000 across Europe. Johnson Controls has confirmed that sustainability has always been the company priority and as the critical climate change battle continues, it is crucial for Johnson Controls to take the front seat in reducing emissions and offering clean, smart, and sustainable solutions for its clients and communities around the globe.

Furthermore, Johnson Controls was one of the first industrial businesses to disclose emissions and make commitments to reduce them. Since 2002, the company has reduced carbon emissions and energy consumption by more than 70%. It was recently designated one of the 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World, ranking #1 in its industry group and #12 overall, and is one of only 45 companies to receive the Terra Carta Seal, which acknowledges private sector organizations that are establishing truly sustainable marketplaces.

Additionally, while Johnson Controls discloses emissions in all three scopes, the ranking only considers scope 1 and scope 2 emissions because not all of the firms on the list do. Since 2017, Johnson Controls has reduced scope 1 and 2 emissions by 38 percent, removing more than 415,000 metric tonnes of CO2e.
