Yum China Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: YUMC) disclosed that it has been named one of the top corporations in the world in Equileap’s Top 100 Gender Equality Global Ranking for 2022. This year, Yum China is the sole Chinese firm on the list. Yum China was also named one of 19 firms worldwide with no wage disparity between men and women.
Yum China is at the frontline of the restaurant industry’s efforts to promote gender equality. Yum China recruited around 290,000 women by the end of the fiscal year 2021. It accounts for 65 percent of the overall workforce. Meanwhile, women held 53 percent of Senior Management positions, and the Company continues to make efforts in encouraging strong leaders at all levels of management.
Yum China is celebrating after being named one of the top corporations in the world for gender equity by Equileap. This underscores the company’s long-standing commitment to supporting workplace equality. Equileap is the foremost organization in the corporate sector for data and insights on gender equality. This year’s rating is based on in-depth research of 3,895 publicly traded companies with a total workforce of 102 million people around the world.
Companies are investigated based on 19 gender equality criteria, including gender parity from the boardroom to the workplace, the wage gap, paternity leave, and sexual misconduct policies. Furthermore, Yum China was recognized on the Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index (GEI) for the fourth year in a row, in addition to the Equileap worldwide ranking.
In addition to this, Yum China is a signatory to the UN Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) and adheres to the idea of non-discrimination in the workplace.
