Autoliv, Inc. (NYSE: ALV) disclosed that it is planning to join hands with Polestar in its industry-leading project Polestar 0. Through this partnership, both companies will develop a truly climate-neutral car by 2030. The “Polestar 0” project brings together firms across the automotive supply chain to harness innovation as well as collaboration to tackle the climate downturn and change the view of how to create cars sustainably.
The partnership with Polestar matches Autoliv’s pledge to be the first automotive safety supplier to become carbon neutral in its operations by 2030 and seek net-zero emissions across its supply chain by 2040. Autoliv is excited to team up with Polestar as it disclosed that to attain its far-reaching climate targets, it must cooperate across the value chain.
Furthermore, Autoliv and Polestar are planning to research and develop technology that is targeted at the search for climate-neutral solutions and technological innovations related to automotive safety such as pyrotechnics, textiles, and new generations of materials for airbags and seatbelts.
Additionally, Polestar believed it was evident from the beginning that this is not a solo effort, and it is ecstatic to present such a solid team of interested partners, all of whom are industry heavyweights, including Autoliv. To confront the climate catastrophe, it is relying on teamwork and innovation.
