Dr. Reddy’s (NYSE: RDY) Seeks Approval to Bring Russia’s Sputnik Light COVID-19 Vaccine

Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Limited (NYSE: RDY) disclosed that it is seeking authorization of the government to bring Russia’s Sputnik Light COVID-19 vaccine into the country. It has been disclosed that firm is planning to file application in the coming weeks. It will be a greatest accomplishment for the firm if it will be able to get the authorization.

The Indian government believed that speedy launch of single-dose COVID-19 vaccine will accelerate the vaccination campaign of the country. After getting the authorization, it would become the first single-dose vaccine to be introduced in India. Furthermore, the single-dose Sputnik Light vaccine showed the 79.4% efficacy.

In addition to this, Dr. Reddy’s has also started the discussion with the Indian government and the private sector to deliver the two-dose Sputnik V vaccine. The firm is anticipating that the two-dose Sputnik V vaccine will be commercially introduce in the country in the middle of next month.

Furthermore, the two-dose Sputnik V had got the authorization of Indian drug regulator for restricted emergency use in April. Dr Reddy’s Laboratories is importing the vaccine for use in India. The Russian Sputnik V is the third vaccine to get authorization from the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) for emergency use. The vaccine will be used in a few private hospitals.
