BlackBerry’s (NYSE: BB) QNX Selected by Scania for its Next Generation of Vehicles

BlackBerry Limited (NYSE: BB) revealed that Scania AB has selected its QNX for its next generation of vehicles. Scania AB which has gained recognition as the supplier of transport solutions has selected BB QNX to offer the safety-certified operating system (OS).

Furthermore, the Swedish supplier has also selected the QNX to monitors its high-performance computing platforms within its next electrical architecture production in heavy goods cars, successfully erecting the high-performance strength on a single software base.

Scania has decided to utilize the QNX of BB in three Electronic Units. The first unit includes a Digital Cockpit, the second unit includes telematics, and the third unit includes a central high-performance coordinator platform, to provide a secure and protected basis for the software to be built on. It has been disclosed that the usage of QNX by Scania will enhance the importance of industry-standard OS and design for high-performance ECU’s.

Scania disclosed that it has selected BB’s QNX because of the success of the firm in certified embedded software, in combination with its cybersecurity competencies. Scania further stated that utilizing a single OS and hypervisor for high-performance systems in the truck has huge cost-effective and technical benefits to its business activities and enables the firm to generate value for its clients.
