TOTAL SE (NYSE: TOT) disclosed Thursday that it has entered into a strategic partnership deal with Microsoft Inc (NASDAQ: MSFT). Both the firm has joined the forces with the aim to achieve the target of net-zero emissions. This multi-year partnership will bring a huge change as both the firms have complete expertise in their businesses and utilization of their expertise will help in the achievement of net-zero emission target.
The global network and the market knowledge of TOTAL will help Microsoft to attain sustainability objectives. Its objectives include the 2025 target of renewable energy and make a contribution to the energy effectiveness and carbon emissions diminishing endeavors of its data centers.
Furthermore, TOTAL will also get benefits from the cloud platforms of Microsoft. The total has opted to speed up its IT revolution and harnessing the power of Azure for digital revolution projects and Total Digital Factory. Both the firms will also implement low carbon and carbon removal technologies.
Moreover, Microsoft is also planning to decrease its dependency on diesel fuel by 2030. TOT, through its partner Saft, will assist Microsoft in its expansion of a long-term strategy to pursue diesel-free operations. Microsoft has pledged to utilize 100% renewable energy by 2025.
The target of TOTAL is to get to the 35 GW of renewable electrical power in 2025 and then almost 100 GW in 2030. To reach a target of net-zero emission TOTAL is constructing a collection of events in renewables and electricity that ought to account for up to 40 % of its sales by 2050.
